The Kansas City T-Bones (15-20) split today’s doubleheader against the Winnipeg Goldeyes (24-11) with an 11-9 loss in game two at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The Goldeyes scored three runs off Chris Rhoads in the first inning, the first coming on an RBI double by Kevin West before RBI singles from Cody Ehlers and Dee Brown gave Winnipeg an early 3-0 lead.

Kansas City answered in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run by Damian Rolls off Zach Baldwin to pull within two.

Jeff DeSmidt started the second inning with a solo home run, and a sacrifice fly by West extended Winnipeg’s lead to four.

The T-Bones recorded five straight hits to start their half of the second, and each runner scored for a 7-5 Kansas City advantage.  An RBI double by Ryan Fox knocked in Jim Fasano before a single by Mark Minicozzi plated Brad Correll and Fox.  Minicozzi and Jacob Blackwood both scored when Rolls doubled.  Baldwin left after one and two-thirds innings after surrendering seven runs on eight hits.  He did not factor into the decision.

After Ehlers singled to begin the third, Brown and Cory Patton hit back-to-back home runs to regain the lead, 8-7.  Following the home runs, Rhoads left the game in favor of Weston Curles.  The Goldeyes added another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Brown.  Rhoads allowed eight runs on nine hits over two-plus innings in a no-decision.

Derek Feldkamp (1-0) relieved Baldwin in the second and retired nine in-a-row before surrendering a double to Fasano and a two-run shot to Brad Correll (pictured) to tie the game at nine.  Feldkamp allowed two runs on two hits over three and one-thirds innings to earn the victory.

Todd Moser took the mound for Kansas City in the fifth and threw a scoreless inning before Brown reached on an error to start sixth, moved to second on a passed ball and went to third on a wild pitch.  He scored when Patton singled, chasing Moser from the game.  Daniel Sattler entered for the T-Bones and allowed a sacrifice fly that plated Patton, capping the scoring on the game.  Moser took the loss after surrendering two unearned runs on two hits in one-plus innings.

Payton Tweddale threw a scoreless seventh to finish the game for Kansas City.  Matt Davis threw a perfect frame to earn his league-leading 10th save for the Goldeyes.

The T-Bones will be on the road for series against the Joliet JackHammers and Schaumburg Flyers.  They return to CommunityAmerica Ballpark after the All-Star Break for a four-game set against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks starting July 9.  To catch the T-Bones while they are on the road, tune into KXTR 1660 AM, or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com and click the Listen Live link on the left side of the page.
