The Kansas City T-Bones (7-4) dropped the first game of a three-game series, 7-3, to the Schaumburg Flyers (5-6) tonight in front of 7,022 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The T-Bones used three consecutive singles off Carmen Pignatiello (1-1) to begin the third inning.  Aharon Eggleston plated the first run of the contest with a sacrifice fly to left, giving Kansas City a 1-0 advantage.  Pignatiello then induced two groundouts to end the threat.

Schaumburg responded against Justin James (1-2) with a two-run fourth.  Felix Jose drove in the first run with an RBI double, scoring Jose Valdez who singled to lead off the inning.  After a groundout, James struck out Jason Colson, but a wild pitch allowed him to reach safely while Jose scored from third.

Ryan Fox led off the fifth with a walk and scored on an RBI single by Damian Rolls to tie the game at 2-2.  After a single and a walk to begin the Schaumburg seventh, Jeff Dunbar hit an RBI triple to give the Flyers their final lead.

James was pulled after seven innings having allowed four runs on six hits with four strikeouts in a losing effort.

Kansas City plated their final run of the contest on an RBI groundout from Eggleston in the bottom of the seventh.  Mark Minicozzi led off the inning with a double and scored on the play.

Pignatiello left following Eggleston’s groundout, giving way to Cephus Howard with two out in the seventh.  The right-hander surrendered three runs, two earned, on six hits in the win.

Victor Ferrante capped off the scoring with a three-run home run against Cody McAllister in the ninth to extend the Flyers’ lead to 7-3.  McAllister finished the game for Kansas City, allowing three runs on four hits in two innings of work.

Kansas City looks to rebound in the second game of a three-game series against Schaumburg tomorrow night.  First pitch is set for 7:05.  Single-game tickets for the T-Bones start at just $6.  Season tickets, group tickets, mini-plans and All-You-Can-Eat plans are available as well.
