KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Andy McCauley have announced that the contract of veteran outfielder Greg Jacobs has been sold to the San Francisco Giants.

Jacobs, 32, rejoined the T-Bones in July last season after beginning the year in the Dodgers organization.  The left-handed slugger hit .276 with four home runs and 29 RBI with Double-A Jacksonville before earning a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas.  Jacobs posted a .346 mark in 15 games with the 51s prior to his release.

“It’s no surprise that the Giants are interested in Greg,” said McCauley.  “He’s performed very well at every level he’s played and was an instrumental part in our championship squad last season.  We’re happy to see him get the opportunity and wish him the best of luck.”

After joining the T-Bones on July 15, Jacobs hit safely in 12 straight games, collecting multiple hits in 10 of those contests.  He posted a .538 average with two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBI in his first six games with Kansas City and was named Northern League Player of the Week during that span.  Jacobs finished the season with a .384 mark, blasting 11 home runs while driving in 50 runs over 44 games.

The 2008 season marked the second stint for Jacobs in Kansas City.  Over the course of 154 games during the 2005 and 2006 seasons, he posted a .340 average with 25 home runs and 107 RBI for the T-Bones.  His contract was purchased following the 2006 campaign by the Philadelphia Phillies.  Jacobs spent the 2007 season with Double-A Reading where he hit .310 with 21 home runs and 83 RBI in 133 games.
