Champion Manager Returning to Kansas City11/21/2008 11:46 AM - After winning his and the team’s first Northern League Championship, manager Andy McCauley’s contract with the T-Bones has been renewed. The 2009 season will mark McCauley’s third with the team.
“I am very happy and excited to be back with Kansas City and I want to thank John Ehlert, Adam Ehlert and Chris Browne for the opportunity to improve on the past two seasons and I look forward to bringing another championship to Kansas City.”
McCauley has an impressive post-season record, reaching league playoffs in seven of his 10 years as a professional manager. The 2008 season marked his second championship, having led the London Werewolves to the Frontier League title in 1999.
After coaching for six years at the college level, McCauley moved to the professional ranks, managing for four years in the Frontier League, before moving to the Northern League. After one season with the Quebec Capitales, McCauley spent four years with the Schaumburg Flyers, where he was named Manager of the Year in 2004.
“We’re very proud that McCauley has been able to bring a championship to Kansas City,” said T-Bones co-owner Adam Ehlert. “We hope 2008 was the first of many, and we’re especially appreciative that Andy can produce a winning team that is comprised of upstanding young men. Our presence in the community is a significant part of our overall product, and Andy and his players do an exceptional job of representing the organization.”
The 2008 season was especially sweet for McCauley—he is a Philadelphia native, and served as a batting practice pitcher and assistant coach with the Phillies in 1995. McCauley can also compare Championship rings with good friend and Northern League alum Chris Coste, who was the starting catcher in game one of this years’ World Series.
