Get to Know Kurt Sieker, Group Sales Associate/Ticket Operations

It’s time to get to know one of the T-Bones newest employees, Kurt Sieker. Kurt will be working in ticket operations and group sales, an area he became very familiar with this past season working in the T-Bones box office.
Sieker began with the T-Bones as a stadium operations intern for current general manager Chris Browne last spring. A big part of the internship was showing up to yank the tarp off the field in near freezing conditions the morning of a high school game.
“The exhilarating tarp pulls at 6am with the top notch tarp crew will never be forgotten just like the words ‘this is going to be the worst tarp pull of all time, or we could wait for Marshall’ (a line often uttered by Joey Fitzgerald head keeper of the grounds) etched eternally in my brain,” said Kurt.
Most of his duties included general upkeep of the stadium which encompassed many tasks.
Rylan Brody who helped oversee Kurt’s operations internship added, “Kurt was awesome.”
Following his rookie stint in operations he was traded for a worker to be named later by Browne to Sarah Keel, director of ticket operations, where he served as a box office manager on her staff.
Kurt said he was excited to find out the T-Bones wanted to hire him for full time employment.
“It is kind of a dream job,” Sieker said. “I have always wanted to work in sports, but particularly baseball. When the opportunity presented itself I took it without hesitation.”
He was born in Hays, Kansas but grew up about a half hour away in Russell. Kurt missed Hays so much he decided to move back there for five years of his life to go to college at Fort Hays State University where he played NCAA Division II baseball for a year. He graduated in May 2008 with a degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration.
“I enjoy the new challenges that I face every day and I really enjoy everybody that I work with,” said Kurt.
