T-Bones General Manager Rick Muntean Resigns to Run College Wood Bat Team

10/09/2008 9:00 AM -
After five years as the Vice President and General Manager of the Kansas City T-Bones, Rick Muntean has announced his resignation. He is stepping down to become the COO of a college wood bat league team to open play in nearby St. Joseph Missouri in June 2009 at historic Phil Welch Stadium.

“The five years spent in Kansas City and with the T-Bones have been very very rewarding both professionally and personally,” said Muntean. “I have made hundreds and hundreds of friends for life. To cap off five years by winning the Northern League Championship is a dream come true. The opportunity presented to me is one I’ve been waiting for my entire career. I’ll be a T-Bone forever and wish the T-Bones nothing but success in the future.”

Muntean joined the T-Bones on December 15, 2003 and spent five seasons with the organization seeing the team make the playoffs in bookend years of his tenure with the team, culminating in last month’s league championship. During his time with the team the T-Bones were voted Northern League Organization of the Year twice and Muntean was named executive of the year once in 2004, his first season with the team.

“The entire T-Bones family is happy for Rick—this is a great opportunity for him,” said T-Bones co-owner Adam Ehlert. “I’m glad, that after five years of building a great fan experience of ‘Fun, Well Done,’ he’s able to go out on top, sharing in our championship.”

“Thanks to all the great T-Bones fans for a great ride,” said Muntean.
