GARY, Ind. – After a three-day rain delay, the Kansas City T-Bones took a 4-0 lead after five innings and held on for a 7-4 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats tonight to pull within one victory of their first Northern League Championship since moving to Kansas City in 2003.  The T-Bones now lead the best-of-five series, 2-1.

Aharon Eggleston started the contest with a triple on the second pitch from Tony Cogan and scored the first run of the game on a single by the next batter, Rob Watson.  Cogan started the game for Gary after scheduled starter, Brian Forystek, was delayed en route to the park due to flooded streets caused by the recent weather.

Cogan held Kansas City scoreless over the next three innings before the T-Bones struck for three runs on three hits to take a 4-0 lead in the fifth.  Geoff McCallum singled to begin the frame and scored on a triple by Watson.  After a sacrifice fly by Greg Jacobs, Ken Harvey hit his fourth home run of the postseason to cap off the inning.

Cogan left after seven innings having allowed four runs on eight hits as he suffered the loss.  He was also saddled with the loss in game two in Kansas City on Wednesday.

Kenny Durost (pictured) was stellar through the first six innings for the T-Bones, holding Gary without a hit until Mike Rohde led off the fifth with an infield single.  Durost started the seventh inning but left after two walks and a single loaded the bases for the RailCats with nobody out.  Brady Martinez entered for Durost and quickly surrendered a two-run single to pinch-hitter John McCarthy as Gary pulled within two, 4-2.  The RailCats plated their third run of the frame two batters later when Rob Marconi reached safely on an error by McCallum as Rohde scampered home.  Todd Moser relieved Martinez and induced a flyout from Northern League Player of the Year Tanner Townsend with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Durost earned the victory after allowing three runs on two hits over six-plus innings.

Kansas City loaded the bases with a double, sacrifice bunt and two walks to begin the eighth against Brian Halford.  Drew Dickinson entered and walked the first batter he faced, McCallum, to force in a run.  An RBI groundout by the next hitter, Eggleston, gave the T-Bones a 6-3 advantage.

Moser surrendered an RBI double to Brett Wallace with two outs in the eighth as Gary pulled within two, 6-4.  Andy Shipman took over for Moser and struck out Eric McNamee to end the frame.  David Trahan threw a perfect ninth to earn the save and secure the victory for Kansas City.

Jacobs pushed the T-Bones advantage to 7-4 with a solo home run in the top of the ninth, his first of the postseason.

The T-Bones look to Anthony Boughner tomorrow night as they attempt to clinch their first championship since moving to Kansas City in 2003 and their first as a franchise since 1997.  Gary is expected to counter with Jeremy Plexico.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:00.
