T-Bones Begin Quest for Title Tonight

09/09/2008 9:57 AM -
Manager Andy McCauley and the T-Bones will begin their quest for the first Northern League Championship in team history.

This is the first time in the team’s six-year history that the T-Bones have played in the title series. Kansas City made the playoffs in 2004 but lost in the semifinals to Andy McCauley’s Schaumburg Flyers in five games. McCauley’s Flyers ended up losing in the final game of the Championship Series in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The T-Bones are sending lefty Anthony Boughner to the mound in game one to oppose RailCat lefty Jeremy Plexico. Boughner was masterful in his first postseason outing allowing just one earned run over six and two-thirds innings against a potent RedHawks offense. He also added nine strikeouts with only two walks.

Plexico struggled in his last outing allowing five runs on seven hits over six and one-thirds innings against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The lefty was tough on the T-Bones all season going 2-1 with a 4.68 ERA. The T-Bones touched him for nine runs the first time they faced him during the regular season back on May 27 in Gary.

The two teams met 21 times during the regular season and the T-Bones finished with a 10-11 record against the RailCats. Most recently, the T-Bones took a five game series from Gary, winning the final three in the last regular season series between the two teams.

The series begins at 7:05 tonight with tickets still available by calling the T-Bones box office at (913) 328-BALL (2255).  You can also purchase tickets online by clicking here.
