Neb Brown Named Northern League Player of the Week

09/02/2008 9:04 AM -
The Northern League announced today that Kansas City T-Bones outfielder Neb Brown has earned Northern League Player of the Week honors for the week ending August 31. Brown, 28, led the league in nearly every offensive category for the week.

Playing in six games he hit .611 with two doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI while slugging 1.222. He also drew five walks while not striking out during the week. Brown began the season as the T-Bones starting third baseman but recently moved to left field. Since making the switch, he has hit safely in 17 of 19 games. In his second season with the T-Bones, Brown has raised his average to .283 from .237 since August 14.

Brown was originally an 11th round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2002. He was drafted out of Oklahoma State University and spend four seasons in the Diamondbacks system, reaching as high as Triple-A Tucson in 2005.

The T-Bones begin a best-of-five playoff series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. This is the T-Bones first trip to the postseason since 2004 and the team’s second trip since moving to Kansas City in 2003. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
