KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Joliet JackHammers pounded out 17 hits in an 11-6 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones tonight as they took the rubber match of their three-game series at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.  The T-Bones remain two up on Joliet with three games to play.

As 4,423 looked on, Joliet plated their first two tallies on a two-run single by Joey Gomes off Chris Rhoads (pictured) with two outs in the first inning.  After a 1-2-3 second, the JackHammers added another run on an RBI double by Cory Harris to gain a three-run advantage after three.

Both teams sent nine men to the plate in the fifth, Joliet first in a four-run frame to pull ahead 7-0.  Juan Diaz and Harris drove in a run a piece with RBI singles before a two-run single from Wally Backman, Jr. capped off the scoring.  The JackHammers collected six straight one-out singles to score their runs.

Rhoads left after five having surrendered seven runs on 11 hits as he fell to 4-6.

Kansas City plated five in their half of the frame against Brad Mumma on a two-run triple by Geoff McCallum and a bases-loaded, two-out three-bagger by Ken Harvey.  The T-Bones collected four hits in the frame as they pulled within two, 7-5.

Mumma allowed one hit in a scoreless sixth and struck out the first batter in the seventh to finish his outing.  The left-hander allowed five runs on seven hits over six and one-thirds innings as he improved to 8-7.  He is now 3-0 since joining Joliet.

Brady Martinez threw a perfect sixth for Kansas City before surrendering two home runs, a solo shot by Diaz and two-run blast from Backman, Jr., to give Joliet a 10-5 lead.  The runs snapped an 19-inning scoreless streak for Martinez that dated back to August 2.

Payton Tweddale threw the final two innings for Kansas City, allowing his lone run on a sacrifice fly by Nick Prosise in the ninth.  Kansas City added their final run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI groundout by Aharon Eggleston off Dustin Taylor.

The T-Bones now host the first-place Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the final three games of the regular season.  Anthony Snow gets the nod for Kansas City tomorrow night opposite Brett Lawson for the RedHawks.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
