Entering the T-Bones Monday off-day the magic number to make the playoffs currently sits at four.  There are three games separating the fourth-place T-Bones from the Joliet JackHammers who will be in town to open a three-game series at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Tuesday starting at 7:05.

To figure a team’s magic number, you first figure out how many games are remaining on the season – in this case, six. You then add one, making it seven. Finally, you subtract the number of games the trailing team is behind in the loss column. Kansas City sits with 46 losses, Joliet with 50 – a difference of three.

6 + 1 = 7. 7 – 3 = 4.

A team’s magic number drops for every win by that team OR every loss by the trailing team. During the upcoming series with Joliet the T-Bones magic number can decrease by two with each win. It will never increase.
