KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones took their second straight game from the Gary SouthShore RailCats tonight, 4-2, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

In front of 4,109 fans, Kansas City jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning against Tony Cogan on a two-run home run by Greg Jacobs.  Aharon Eggleston led off the frame with a hit by pitch.  They were the only runs Cogan allowed over seven innings of work as the left-hander surrendered just four hits in a no-decision.

Gary was held scoreless by Chris Rhoads until the top of the fifth inning when Rhoads began the frame by hitting John McCarthy.  McCarthy then stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Rob Marconi and scored on a sacrifice fly by Eric McNamee to pull within one, 2-1.

The RailCats plated their second run of the contest off Rhoads in the eighth inning when McNamee led off the inning with a double.  After a single by Jay Pecci moved him to third, Tanner Townsend tied the game at two with a sacrifice fly to right.

Rhoads would not factor into the decision after leaving with two outs in the eighth.  He surrendered two runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking two in the contest.  Todd Moser struck out Steve Haake to finish the eighth and improve to 1-1 on the campaign.

Kansas City got a leadoff walk from Jacobs to start the bottom of the eighth against Jon Lewis.  After a flyout, Jim Fasano grounded back to the mound and reached safely on a fielder’s choice when the throw from Lewis pulled Pecci off the bag at second.  Pecci was able to tag Jacobs for the second out of the frame.  The next batter, Neb Brown (pictured), connected for a two-run home run to push the score to 4-2.

Gary put the tying run at second against T-Bones closer David Trahan but couldn’t capitalize as he earned his 18th save of the season.

Anthony Snow takes the hill for Kansas City against Brian Forystek of the RailCats in the rubber match of the five-game series tomorrow night.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
