T-Bones Snap Losing Streak Against RailCats

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones snapped a 10-game losing streak against the Gary SouthShore RailCats tonight, 16-8, in front of 5,019 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The first three T-Bones reached in the first inning off Gary starter Drew Dickinson, the first scoring on an RBI single by Greg Jacobs.  Jim Fasano then hit his league-leading 20th home run to give the T-Bones a 4-0 lead.  Gary scored one in the top of the second inning on a solo home run by Steve Haake off Kenny Durost (pictured).  Kansas City then added four more in the second inning on a pair of two-run home runs by Aharon Eggleston and Eric Scriven, making the score 8-1.

The T-Bones scored one in the third on a two-out double by Geoff McCallum, plating Steve Trout from second.  Kansas City went scoreless in the fourth before Craig Hurba and Neb Brown hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth.  The T-Bones scored three in the frame, extending their lead to 12-1.

Dickinson left after five innings having surrendered 12 runs on 13 hits as he fell to 5-6 on the season.

Gary added two runs in the sixth off Durost to finish his outing.  The T-Bones right-hander allowed three runs on eight hits as he improved to 8-4 on the campaign.

Payton Tweddale relieved Durost in the seventh and surrendered a two-run home run to Mike Rohde to push the score to 12-5.  Mike Reese entered the game in the seventh for Gary and gave up four runs on two hits and five walks.  Anthony Esquer finished the game for the RailCats with a scoreless eighth.

Todd Moser threw a scoreless eighth before David Trahan came in for the ninth.  Trahan surrendered a three-run home run to Cristian Guerrero to cap the scoring at 16-8. 

The two teams face off tomorrow in the fourth game of a five-game series.  Chris Rhoads takes the hill for the T-Bones against Tony Cogan for the RailCats.  First pitched is scheduled for 7:05.
