GARY, Ind. – The Kansas City T-Bones still can’t find an answer for Gary SouthShore as the RailCats finished a three-game sweep with an 8-2 win this afternoon at U.S. Steel Yard.  Kansas City has now dropped eight consecutive games against Gary.

Gary jumped on Anthony Boughner (pictured) early, plating four runs, two earned, on three hits and three errors in the first for a quick 4-0 lead.  Following two singles and a sacrifice bunt, Tanner Townsend drove in the first two tallies with a double.  He scored the third run when the next batter, Cristian Guerrero, reached on a dropped fly ball by Eric Scriven.  Scriven picked up two errors on the play when he overthrew second base, allowing Guerrero to reach third.  Steve Haake then reached on an error by Jim Fasano, allowing Guerrero to cap off the scoring.

The outburst was all Brian Forystek would need as he held Kansas City scoreless through his six innings of work.  After a leadoff single by Jim Fasano in the second, Forystek induced a double play from Craig Hurba.  With the help of the double play, Forystek would then retire 11 in-a-row before surrendering a single to Hurba with one out in the fifth.

Forystek allowed just three hits while striking out five and walking one in the victory.

Boughner retired 10 in-a-row after his first-inning stumble before allowing the first four batters to reach in the fifth on a pair of singles and walks.  Eric Blakeley plated the first run with a single before Eric McNamee came home on a double play by Guerrero.  Boughner allowed two more runs on a double by McNamee in the sixth, both of which were unearned due to an error by Neb Brown earlier in the frame.

The T-Bones left-hander left after six, allowing eight runs, four earned, on six hits in a losing effort.

Kansas City snapped a 17-inning scoreless streak with an unearned run off Jonathan Lewis in the seventh.  Ken Harvey struck out to begin the inning but reached safely on a wild pitch.  He went to second when Fasano reached on an error by McNamee and advanced to third on another wild pitch from Lewis.  Harvey eventually crossed the plate on an RBI groundout from Brown to bring the score to 8-1.

The T-Bones picked up another run in the ninth against Aaron Cook when Harvey started the frame with a single and later came home on a groundout from Hurba.  Cook then retired the next two batters to end the contest.

Todd Moser threw a scoreless seventh and David Trahan a scoreless eighth for Kansas City.  Their outings extended the bullpen’s scoreless streak to eight innings.

Kansas City travels to Joliet tomorrow to prepare for a three-game set against the JackHammers beginning Tuesday.  First pitch of game one is set for 6:05.
