KANSAS CITY, Kan. – After a span of 51 days, play resumed between the Kansas City T-Bones and the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks tonight at CommunityAmerica Ballpark as they completed a game from June 8 that was suspended due to weather.

On June 8, Fargo jumped on top of the T-Bones early, scoring six runs in the first inning off T-Bones starter Mark Michael.  Joe Mathis, Jeff Eure and Kory Wayment all collected home runs in the inning.  Fargo tacked on two more with solo home runs in the third and fourth frames by David Castillo and Eure respectively.  Kansas City scored their three runs in the bottom of the third off RedHawks starter Brett Lawson.  Jim Fasano drove in the first with a single and Aharon Eggleston finished off the scoring with a two-run base hit, making the score 8-3.  Play was suspended before the fifth inning could begin.

When play resumed tonight, Kansas City pulled within one with a four-run fifth inning against David Morgan.  Ken Harvey singled and later scored on a fielder’s choice by Neb Brown for the first run before Fasano capped off the frame with a bases-clearing double to make the score 8-7.

The RedHawks added two in the top of the seventh off rookie hurler Ty Reese.  Carlo Cota homered and Alan Rick doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ruben Salazar.

Reese, who was signed prior to the game, gave up two runs on four hits in four-plus innings in his professional debut.  Brady Martinez relieved Reese, throwing a scoreless ninth.

Mark Michael suffered the loss for Kansas City after allowing seven runs on 10 hits in two and one-thirds innings on June 8.

Scott Koerber allowed one run on an RBI single by Steve Trout in the eighth as the T-Bones pulled within two, 10-8.  Koerber improved to 6-5 after surrendering one run on five hits in two and one-thirds innings.  Nate Cotton threw a perfect ninth, striking out two as he picked up his 18th save of the season.

After a 20-minute break, the two teams will play the second game of tonight’s doubleheader.  The game is scheduled for seven innings.
