SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – A solo home run by Ken Harvey (pictured) to lead off the ninth inning propelled the Kansas City T-Bones to an 8-7 win over the Schaumburg Flyers this afternoon at Alexian Field.  The win prevented a sweep by the Schaumburg Flyers and capped off a 2-4 road trip for the T-Bones.

Kansas City got on the board quickly against Brian Finch in the first inning, plating their first run on an RBI double by Greg Jacobs.  Jacobs would later score when Jim Fasano reached on an error by first baseman Chris Gaskin to give the T-Bones a 2-0 lead.  The double by Jacobs extended his hit streak to 12 games as he finished three-for-five with two doubles and two RBI.

Schaumburg responded with four runs on five hits off Adam Garner, using a sacrifice fly from Calvin Pickering and three-run home run by Peanut Williams to gain a 4-2 advantage.  The Flyers added another run on a sacrifice fly by Jermaine Allensworth in the second to pull ahead by three.

Garner left after getting just four outs, allowing five runs on six hits in a no-decision.

The T-Bones pulled within one in the third on an RBI single by Fasano and RBI groundout from Craig Hurba.  They took a 6-5 lead in the fourth when Steve Trout singled home Geoff McCallum and scored when the next batter, Jacobs, doubled him home.  However, their lead was short-lived as Lance Koenig homered off reliever Chris Rhoads in the bottom of the frame to tie the contest at six.

Rhoads held Schaumburg to just the one run on three hits in three and two-thirds innings of relief.

Fasano gave Kansas City a 7-6 lead with a solo home run off Finch in the fifth.  Finch left after finishing the inning having surrendered seven runs, six earned, on 11 hits in a no-decision.

Brady Martinez allowed just two hits over two scoreless innings for Kansas City in relief of Rhoads.  Todd Moser entered in the eighth and induced a groundout from the first batter he faced before Mark Haske reached safely and advanced to second on a throwing error by Moser.  The left-hander departed after the play with an apparent injury, giving way to closer David Trahan.  The first batter Trahan faced, Allensworth, singled home Haske to tie the game at seven.

Harvey quickly answered against Lonnie Patterson to give the T-Bones their third and final lead at 8-7.  Trahan held the Flyers scoreless with a perfect ninth to earn the victory.

Kansas City gets a day off tomorrow before beginning a six-game homestand on Tuesday, starting with a matchup against the first-place Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.  Tuesday will feature a doubleheader between the two clubs, with the first game a completion of a suspended game from June 8.  The game will resume in the top of the fifth inning with Fargo leading 8-3.  After finishing the final five innings of that contest, the two teams will play a seven-inning contest that will begin 20 minutes after the completion of game one.  First pitch of the suspended game is set for 6:05.
