WINNIPEG, Mb. – The Kansas City T-Bones were unable to overcome a three-run Winnipeg fifth this afternoon as they fell 5-1 to the Goldeyes in the rubber match of a three-game set at Canwest Park.  The loss handed Kansas City their first series loss in the month of July.

Winnipeg picked up their first run in the first inning on an RBI single from Kevin West against Chris Rhoads to take the early lead.  Kansas City answered in the third for their lone run, using a solo home run by Aharon Eggleston (pictured) to tie the game at one.

Ace Walker shut down the T-Bones after Eggleston’s blast, allowing just the one run on five hits over six and two-thirds innings in a winning effort.

Rhoads held the Goldeyes scoreless over the second through fourth innings before Winnipeg opened up for three runs on four hits in the decisive fifth frame.  The Goldeyes got their first two tallies on a two-run double from Tydus Meadows before an RBI single by the next batter, West, pushed the score to 4-1.

Winnipeg chased Rhoads from the game in the sixth, plating their final score on an RBI single from Demetrius Heath off reliever Tag Horner.  Rhoads was charged with all five Goldeye runs on the afternoon, allowing nine hits in five and one-thirds innings while suffering the loss.

Horner threw a scoreless seventh and Bobby Carrington threw a perfect eighth, striking out two to finish the game for Kansas City.

Kansas City now heads to Schaumburg for a three-game set against the Flyers that begins tomorrow night.  Anthony Boughner takes the mound for the T-Bones opposite Justin Jordan.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
