07/22/2008 9:18 PM -
The Northern League has announced that outfielder Greg Jacobs has been named Player of the Week for the week ending July 20.

Jacobs, who rejoined the T-Bones on July 15 after a stint in affiliated ball, posted a .538 average (14-for-26) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBI in his first six games with Kansas City. He struck out just once while posting five multi-hit games in that span, including three separate three-hit outings.

The veteran outfielder played for Kansas City in 2005 and 2006 before having his contract purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies following the 2006 season. Jacobs hit .310 with 21 home runs and 83 RBI in 133 games with Reading, the Phillies Class AA affiliate in 2007. He was released following the season and signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers to begin 2008. After batting .276 in 47 games with Jacksonville, the Dodgers’ Class AA affiliate to begin the season, Jacobs was promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas where he posted a .346 mark in 15 games before being released.

Jacobs hit .340 with 25 home runs and 107 RBI in his first stint with Kansas City. Following the 2006 season, the left-handed slugger was named the Northern League’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player and was selected as a post-season all-star for the league.

This marks the sixth time in 2008 that a T-Bones player has received a weekly honor from the league.
