WINNIPEG, Mb. – The Kansas City T-Bones were unable to get going offensively against the Winnipeg Goldeyes tonight, falling 6-1 at Canwest Park in the first game of a three-game set.

Winnipeg picked up their first two runs in a bizarre first inning against Kenny Durost, plating one run each on a single by Kevin West and sacrifice fly from Chad Ehrnsberger.  Demetrius Heath walked with one out and advanced to second with a stolen base.  The next batter, Tydus Meadows, struck out swinging but reached first safely on a passed ball.  Both players then advanced into scoring position on a balk by Durost.

The Goldeyes picked up their third tally in the third inning on another sacrifice fly, this time by Meadows.  Heath scored on the play after beginning the inning with a double and advancing to third on a wild pitch.

Aaron Jackson held Kansas City scoreless through the first four innings before allowing his only run on an RBI single by Aharon Eggleston in the fifth.  Jackson left after five, allowing one run on four hits in the victory.

Durost allowed two baserunners in the eighth before giving way to Brady Martinez with one out.  Martinez then surrendered an RBI double to Ehrnsberger and left in favor of Tag Horner.  Winnipeg scored three runs on three hits in the frame to extend their lead to 6-1.  Durost allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits in his outing as he suffered the loss.

The two teams face off again tomorrow as Anthony Snow takes the hill for Kansas City against Zach Baldwin for the Goldeyes.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
