T-Bones Sign Former Major Leaguer

07/20/2008 5:07 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Andy McCauley have signed former major league infielder Bo Hart.  Hart will fill the hole at second base left by Rob Watson, who was picked up by the Philadelphia Phillies late last week.

Hart played 88 games for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2003 and 2004, hitting .271 while collecting four home runs and 30 RBI.  Last season, he split time between three teams, playing for the Cubs’ Triple-A affiliate in Iowa; the Norfolk Tides, Baltimore’s Class AAA affiliate; and the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League.  Hart hit a combined .222 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 2007.

“With the loss of Watson, we’re looking for someone to replace him,” said McCauley.  “It’s going to be hard to replace the numbers he put up.  Bo’s a quality veteran that has played a lot of years and he’s looking to stabilize our middle infield.”

Hart started the 2008 season with the Schaumburg Flyers, batting .261 with three home runs and 21 RBI in 40 games before his release last week.  Hart is expected to be in the lineup tonight in the series finale against his old team.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
