Kansas City Grounds Flyers 15-6

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – In front of 8,019 fans tonight, the Kansas City T-Bones won their second game of a three game series against the Schaumburg Flyers, 15-6.  

Matt Ford walked the first three batters he faced before surrendering a ground-rule double to Ken Harvey for the T-Bones first two runs of the game.  Greg Jacobs scored on a single by the next hitter, Jim Fasano, and Harvey scored on a groundout by Neb Brown as Kansas City took a 4-0 lead after the first.

Peanut Williams answered in the beginning of the second for Schaumburg, hitting a home run with one out off Chris Rhoads (pictured) to pull the Flyers within three.  T-Bones second baseman Steve Trout hit a RBI single to plate Eggleston before coming home on a two-out blast from Ken Harvey to push the score to 7-1.  Ford left after two innings, allowing seven runs on five hits as he suffered the loss.

Jermaine Allensworth hit a two-run home run in the third to make the score 7-3.  Kansas City then added another run on a RBI single from Geoff McCallum to cap off the frame.

The T-Bones scored five runs on five hits in the fourth, three scoring on a bases-clearing double by Geoff McCallum.  Kansas City added two more runs on two hits in the sixth to extend their lead, 15-4.

Rhoads gave way to Tag Horner in the seventh after allowing two baserunners with one out.  Horner surrendered an RBI single to Allensworth, completing Rhoads’ line at five runs on five hits in six and one-thirds innings as he improved to 2-2.

Todd Moser threw a perfect eighth for Kansas City.  David Trahan allowed one unearned run on one hit in the ninth to put the final tally at 15-6.  No Kansas City outfielder had a putout in the contest until the Flyers flew out twice in the final frame.

Kansas City goes for the sweep tomorrow night as they send Anthony Boughner to the mound against Schaumburg’s Steve Shippey.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:05.
