Flyers Down Bones in Opener 6-3

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones suffered a 6-3 loss in the first game of a three-game series tonight against the Schaumburg Flyers in front of 6,608 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Jermaine Allensworth scored the Flyers first run of the night off Kansas City hurler Adam Garner on a single by Vince Harrison.  Alex Rollin then held the T-Bones scoreless until the bottom of the third when Greg Jacobs drove in two with a single, giving Kansas City their only lead of the game, 2-1.

Christopher Gaskin tied the game at two with a solo home run in the fourth.  The Flyers added two more on four straight singles with two outs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.  Harrison and Peanut Williams each drove in a run in the frame.

Ken Harvey reached on an error in the bottom of the sixth and came home on a single from Craig Hurba for the T-Bones last run of the game.  Rollin lasted six innings for Schaumburg, improving to 2-2 after allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits in six innings.

Allensworth plated Mark Haske with a double in the seventh, opening the Flyers lead to 5-3.  Garner then gave way to Brady Martinez, leaving after allowing five runs on 12 hits in six and one-thirds innings as he fell to 0-2.

Payton Tweddale relieved Martinez after one and one-thirds scoreless innings of work.  Rob Fischer hit a home run off Tweddale in the top of the ninth to cap off the Flyers scoring at 6-3.

Chris Rhoads takes the mound tomorrow for Kansas City against Steve Shippey of the Flyers in the second game of the three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
