GARY, Ind. – The Kansas City T-Bones couldn’t find an answer for RailCats hurler Gerald Plexico tonight as they fell 8-0 to the RailCats in the final game of a four-game set at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind.  The loss prevented Kansas City from winning their third consecutive series.

Plexico retired the first 15 batters he faced before allowing a single to Aharon Eggleston to begin the sixth.  After getting Craig Hurba to line out to left, he allowed another hit to Eric Scriven before inducing flyouts from Geoff McCallum and Neb Brown to end the frame.

The left-hander allowed two more hits in a scoreless eighth before finishing the game with a perfect ninth.  Plexico improved to 6-2 on the season as he allowed just four hits in a shutout effort.  He struck out four without walking a batter.

Newcomer Adam Garner made his professional debut for Kansas City in the contest, holding Gary to just one unearned run on three hits through the first three innings.  The RailCats picked up two more runs in the fourth on an RBI double from Steve Haake and RBI single from Jay Pecci.  Two runners were thrown out at home in the inning.

Garner held Gary scoreless in the fifth but left after allowing the first two batters to reach on an error and a single in the sixth.  He was charged with one more unearned run when Tag Horner surrendered a run-scoring single to finish Garner’s line.  The rookie hurler suffered the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, on 10 hits in five-plus innings.

The RailCats got two more runs on three hits off Horner in the seventh to push the score to 6-0.  Tanner Townsend drove in the first run and an RBI double from Rob Marconi, his eighth RBI of the series, capped off the scoring.

Horner allowed the first two batters to reach in the eighth before giving way to Brady Martinez.  After a double play lineout by Eric Blakeley and walk to Cristian Guerrero, Martinez surrendered a two-run double to Tanner Townsend to give the RailCats an eight-run advantage.

Kansas City heads home for a seven-game homestand, beginning with a four-game set against the Winnipeg Goldeyes that kicks off tomorrow night.  Neither team has announced their starters for that contest.  First pitch is set for 7:05.
