GARY, Ind. – The Kansas City T-Bones used a five-run seventh inning to finish off a doubleheader sweep of the Gary SouthShore RailCats 7-2 tonight at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind.

Kenny Durost (pictured) for the T-Bones and Drew Dickinson for Gary matched each other for six innings, both allowing two runs in that span.

The RailCats broke through against Durost first, taking a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI fielder’s choice from Mike Rohde, plating Eric Blakeley who doubled with one out.  Kansas City answered with a sacrifice fly from Geoff McCallum in the third, scoring John Martin who led off the frame with a double.

Each team then scored in the fifth, Kansas City on a two-out RBI single from Rob Watson and Gary on a sacrifice fly by Rob Marconi.

Dickinson began the seventh for Gary, loading the bases with one out before leaving in favor of Brian Halford.  The first batter the rookie reliever faced, Watson, singled home Martin to give Kansas City a 3-2 lead.  The T-Bones extended their lead to five with four more runs to cap off a five-run, seven-hit frame.

Dickinson was charged with five of the runs as he fell to 3-4 after allowing seven hits in six and one-thirds innings.

Durost finished the game for Kansas City, surrendering just two runs on six hits in seven innings as he improved to 3-3 on the season.

Neb Brown returned to the lineup for Kansas City for the first time since June 6, collecting an RBI single when he pinch-hit for Steve Trout in the seventh.

The two teams face off against each other again tomorrow as Anthony Snow goes for Kansas City against a pitcher to be determined for the RailCats.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:00.
