T-Bones to Host Holiday Extravaganza

CommunityAmerica Ballpark to become family-friendly in the wintertime!

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS—OCTOBER 21, 2003— CommunityAmerica Ballpark will be decorated appropriately for the holiday season, in a movement to anchor the year-round attractions in the burgeoning Village West area.

The T-Bones are extending their entertainment offerings beyond the baseball season, and this event is just the start. Families will enjoy the friendly and affordable atmosphere of carolers, Santa, hot chocolate, and a tremendous display of holiday lighting throughout the comfortable, intimate ballpark.

The Ballpark will be professionally decorated by the local firm, Creative Display of Kansas City, headquartered in Olathe, who specializes in commercial, high-impact displays. “In working on planning this event with Creative Display, I am thoroughly confident that the event will be first-class, and the families of Kansas City will be thrilled with the overall holiday message—that’s why we’re conducting the event,” said T-Bones general manager, Adam Ehlert.

The lighting will commence on November 21, and will run through December 21, on, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. The entertainment will consist of nightly appearances by Santa Claus, carolers from area churches and neighborhood groups, and assorted other family-oriented entertainment.

The kick-off will coincide with Mayor Carol Marinovich’s lighting of the city Christmas Tree, at the nearby Nebraska Furniture Mart, November 21st.

Parking, as always at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, will remain free. Admission will be $2.00, and children under 12 are free. Friday-Sunday nights the ballpark will be open from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The same great food that T-Bones fans have grown accustomed to will also be available, provided exclusively by CommunityAmerica Ballpark’s concessionaire, Levy Restaurants.

ComunityAmerica Ballpark this summer hosted more than 210,000 fans for the T-Bones’ inaugural season. This event is designed to make the ballpark accessible, and more of a community asset than for just 45 baseball games, said John Ehlert, CEO and owner of the ballpark. “Our fan profile from the past season showed a high number of area families with young children who enjoyed our affordable family entertainment. This event is designed to appeal to them in the non-baseball months, with the same high-quality production values and good food and amenities we provided this summer,” continued Ehlert.
