WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Right-hander Zac Stott was solid for the Kansas City T-Bones tonight as he earned his first Northern League victory with a 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Canwest Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Each team scored a single run in the first inning as Jim Fasano of Kansas City (pictured) and Brent Metheny for the Goldeyes collected RBI singles for their clubs.  Fasano’s hit extended his RBI streak to seven games and Metheny’s knock brought his league-leading hit streak to 25 consecutive games.

Stott held Winnipeg hitless over the next five innings, allowing five total baserunners in that span.  The right-hander struck out all three batters he faced in the second and retired the side in order in the fifth.  Winnipeg finally broke through for another hit in the seventh when Max Poulin collected a bunt single with one out in the frame.

Stott stranded the Goldeyes shortstop and retired the only batter he faced in the eighth before leaving in favor of Tag Horner.  Stott allowed just one run on four hits in his seven and one-thirds innings of work as he improved to 1-1 with the T-Bones.

Winnipeg starter Ace Walker matched Stott through four innings before surrendering Kansas City’s second run on an RBI double to Rob Watson in the fifth inning.  That would be all Walker would allow as he surrendered seven hits in seven innings while falling to 2-3 on the season.

The T-Bones got two insurance runs off Wayne Foltin in the eighth on RBI doubles from Brad Correll and Kevin Mahar to push their lead to 4-1.  Correll extended his league-leading RBI total to 44 with his basehit.

Horner hit the only batter he faced in the eighth before giving way to Brady Martinez.  Martinez struck out Kevin West and induced a flyout from Tydus Meadows to end the frame.

Geoff McCallum drove in the T-Bones final run with a single in the ninth, pushing the score to 5-1.  Martinez stayed in to face three batters in the ninth, allowing a single and a walk before giving way to closer David Trahan.  Trahan struck out pinch-hitter Jamar Hill and coaxed a groundout from Fehlandt Lentini to earn his league-leading 10th save of the season.

The two teams face off in the rubber match of their three-game set tomorrow night as Anthony Snow of Kansas City faces off against Aaron Jackson for the Goldeyes.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:00.
