KANSAS CITY, Kan. – In front of 6,813 fans, the Kansas City T-Bones won 16-8 tonight in the first game of their three-game series against the Joliet JackHammers.  Kansas City kept from falling below .500 with the victory, improving to 17-16 on the season.

Jim Fasano (pictured) got the T-Bones started in the first inning against Brian Forystek with his eighth home run of the season, plating three to give the T-Bones a 3-0 lead.  After Kansas City added a single run in the second, Ken Harvey hit his second home run in six games in the third, a two-run shot, to put the T-Bones up 5-0. 

Fasano picked up two more RBI in the fourth with a single to center, extending Kansas City’s lead to 8-0.  Forystek left after four innings, allowing eight runs, six earned, on nine hits as he fell to 2-3.

Joliet finally broke through against T-Bones starter Anthony Snow in the fifth, scoring on an error and an RBI double from Nick McIntyre to pull within six.

Kansas City then opened up for five more tallies, using a solo home run from Kevin Mahar, a three-run shot from Rob Watson and an RBI double from Fasano to push the score to 13-2.  Fasano drove in six runs on the night, tying the T-Bones team record for RBI in a game.  He finished three-for-six, falling a triple short of the cycle. 

Joliet sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth, scoring six times on four hits and an error to pull back within five.  Cory Harris led off the frame with a home run and Snow walked in two runs before leaving in favor of Tag Horner.  Horner surrendered a two-run single to Doc Brooks and another run scored on an error to cap off the frame.

Snow improved to 1-1 after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits in five and two-thirds innings.  He threw 123 pitches on the night.

Aharon Eggleston drove in two runs with a double in the sixth and Eric Scriven added another with an RBI single in the seventh to cap off the T-Bones scoring, pushing the final total to 16-8.  Chris Rhoads retired all five batters he faced, striking out two to finish the game for Kansas City.

The two teams face off tomorrow night as the T-Bones send Rick Rivas to the mound against Joliet’s David Moraga.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
