KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones won the second game of their three-game series against the Schaumburg Flyers tonight, 11-4, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

In front of 4,206 fans, the Flyers scored the first two runs of the night on a home run from Peanut Williams off Kenny Durost in the first inning.  Kansas City responded in the second against Dan Frega with back-to-back RBI singles from Aharon Eggleston and Rob Watson to tie the game at two.

The T-Bones took their first lead in the fourth after Steve Trout reached on a walk and scored on a groundout by Watson to push the score to 3-2.  Kansas City added another run in the fifth on an RBI triple from Ken Harvey to extend their lead to two. 

Durost gave way to Chris Rhoads after allowing a leadoff single to Chris Gaskin in the seventh inning.  Rhoads induced a double play after surrendering a single to the first batter he faced, putting Gaskin at third with two outs.  Gaskin would score when the next batter, Lance Koenig, reached on an error by shortstop Eric Scriven.  Victor Burgos then tied the contest at four with an RBI single, plating Koenig.

Durost allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits in six-plus innings of work.  Frega surrendered four runs on nine hits in his six innings.  Neither starter factored into the decision.

The T-Bones answered quickly off reliever Jon Koch when Brad Correll hit a solo home run in the bottom of the frame, his league leading 10th of the season, to give Kansas City a 5-4 lead.  Harvey added another run with his first home run of the season three batters later.

Watson drove in the first of five T-Bones runs in the eighth with a ground-rule double and was followed by back-to-back home runs from Jim Fasano and Kevin Mahar, Fasano driving home three with his blast, as Kansas City increased their lead to 11-4.

Tag Horner (pictured) took the win for Kansas City, allowing just two hits over one and one-thirds scoreless innings as he improved to 3-0.  Koch fell to 1-1 after surrendering four runs on four hits in one and two-thirds innings.

Rick Hummel pitched a perfect ninth for the T-Bones.  Harvey finished four-for-five with two RBI, falling a double short of the cycle.  The T-Bones pounded out four home runs in the contest.

The two teams face off tomorrow in the rubber match of their three-game series. Zac Stott of Kansas City faces a pitcher to be determined for Schaumburg. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05.
