FARGO, N.D. – The Kansas City T-Bones blew a five-run lead but rallied back with a five-run eighth inning to pick up a victory in their series finale with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks this afternoon, 10-7, at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D.

Kansas City struck early against Fargo hurler Adam Rowe, taking a 3-0 lead on a three-run home run from Brad Correll (pictured) in the first inning.  Rowe would allow just two more hits over the next three innings before the T-Bones struck again for two more in the fifth.  Steve Trout reached safely on an error to begin the frame and later scored Kansas City’s fourth run on an RBI double from Correll.  An RBI groundout from Jim Fasano capped off the inning as the T-Bones took a 5-0 lead after five.

Rowe left after five, surrendering five runs, three earned, on seven hits in a no-decision.

Rick Rivas was stellar for Kansas City through the first four innings, holding Fargo hitless until an RBI double from David Castillo gave the RedHawks their first run of the contest with nobody out in the fifth.  Castillo later scored on a groundout from Zach Penprase and Boomer Berry singled home Dan Maycock as Fargo pulled within two, 5-3.

The RedHawks struck again in the sixth, tying the contest at five with a two-out, two-run double from Penprase that chased Rivas from the game.  Rivas finished with five runs, four earned, on six hits in five and two-thirds innings.  He would not factor into the decision.

Neither team scored in the seventh, heading into the eighth tied at five.  Kansas City’s first five batters reached safely and scored in the frame as they jumped out to a 10-5 advantage.  Scott Koerber was charged with the first two runs, suffering the loss after allowing two runs on one hit in two-plus innings of work.  Donnie Smith surrendered hits to all three T-Bones he faced and was charged with their final three tallies.  An RBI single from Aharon Eggleston, a two-run single from Eric Scriven and a two-run double from Trout composed the scoring for Kansas City.

Tag Horner earned the victory after allowing just one of the eight batters he faced to reach when he hit Steve Mortimer to begin the eighth.  Horner struck out four in his two and one-thirds innings of work.

Chris Rhoads allowed two runs on three hits in the ninth before giving way to David Trahan with one out.  Trahan surrendered a hit to the first batter he faced, but put the next two away to finish the game for Kansas City, picking up his league-leading ninth save of the season.

Brad Correll paced the T-Bones offense, finishing four-for-four with two doubles, a home run, a walk, two runs scored and four RBI.

Kansas City enjoys a travel day tomorrow before starting a six-game homestand on Tuesday, beginning with a three-game set against the Schaumburg Flyers.  First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05.
