T-Bones Swept in Short Two-Game Set

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones ended their two-game series tonight against the Joliet JackHammers with a 13-8 loss in front of 4,582 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Joliet jumped on top early, scoring two runs in the top of the first off Rick Rivas (pictured).  Joliet went on to score 11 more runs over the next four innings as they opened up an insurmountable lead.  Rivas left after four and one-thirds innings, giving up 12 runs, 10 earned, on 13 hits while striking out three.  He fell to 2-2 on the season.

After Joliet scored four runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 8-0, the T-Bones got on the board in the bottom of the frame when Aharon Eggleston scored from third on a single by Steve Trout.

In the top of the fifth, Joliet sent 11 batters to the plate resulting in five runs.  Rob Watson hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning, making the score 13-2.

Joliet starter Brian Forystek lasted five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits while improving to 2-2 on the year.  Anthony Snow made his T-Bones debut in the fifth, finishing the final four and two-thirds innings, holding Joliet scoreless while surrendering three hits and striking out seven.

In the bottom of the eighth, Joliet reliever Craig Pfautz walked the first three batters he faced, loading the bases for Chris Dabbs.  Dabbs hit a bases-clearing triple, scoring John Martin from first, Eggleston from second and Kevin Mahar from third, narrowing the lead to 13-8.

Joliet reliever Tyler Meigs pitched a perfect ninth, ending the T-Bones comeback. 

The T-Bones travel to Fargo for a five-game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks starting tomorrow.  T-Bones pitcher Anthony Boughner will face Fargo’s Dane Renkert.  First pitch scheduled for 7:00.
