KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones first game of the two-game series against the Joliet JackHammers ended in a loss, 21-4, in front of 6,192 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The JackHammers scored six runs in the first inning off T-Bones pitcher Reid Hamblet (pictured), his second straight start giving up six or more runs in the first inning. Doc Brooks hit a home run to put the first run on the board and Cory Harris drove in the second with an RBI single. Dorian Rojas capped off the frame with a grand slam. Hamblet left after one inning, surrendering six runs on five hits as he suffered the loss.

Chris Rhoads entered for Kansas City in the second, giving up one run in the frame before Joliet opened up for seven runs on five hits and one T-Bones error in the third. Brooks drove in the second run of the inning with an RBI single. Rhoads left with one out in the inning, finishing the game having allowed seven runs, six earned, on four hits in one and one-thirds innings.

In the fourth inning, Brooks tripled home Prosise and scored on a groundout from Juan Diaz as Joliet took a 16-0 lead after four. Joliet added one more in the fifth before the T-Bones got their first run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single from John Martin, plating Aharon Eggleston who led off the inning with a double.  Brady Martinez got the last two outs of the third inning and threw two more for the T-Bones, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits in two and two-thirds innings.

The T-Bones added another run in the sixth on Brad Correll’s eighth home run of the season and Joliet added a single run in the seventh off Tag Horner to push the score to 18-2.  Horner allowed one run on four hits in two innings of work.

The JackHammers collected three more runs on four hits on the top of the eighth off Alexy Still to increase their total to 21. Watson pushed the score to 21-3 with his fifth home run of the year in the bottom of the frame.  Still gave way to Rick Hummel with two outs, surrendering three runs on three hits in his two-thirds of an inning.

Ryan Smith hit a home run in the ninth inning, bringing the final score to 21-4.  Hummel finished the game for Kansas City, allowing just one hit in one and one-thirds scoreless innings.

The T-Bones play the Joliet JackHammers tomorrow in the final game of the two-game series as Rick Rivas of Kansas City takes on Brian Forystek of Joliet.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Game Notes:  The T-Bones set team records for runs allowed (21), earned runs allowed (19) and hits allowed (24) in the contest…Brooks finished three-for-seven with three RBI, falling a double short of the cycle.
