KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Former Royals Willie Wilson, Amos Otis and others pleased fans by signing autographs and sharing stories.  Fans showed up early and stayed to see an offensive display as the “Stock and News” and “Farmland” teams combined to score 15 total runs, with “Stock and News” taking the friendly contest 12-3.

Willie invited some of his old friends from his playing days to play in the third-annual Willie Wilson T-Bones Classic.  All money raised from autographed merchandise went towards the Children’s Miracle Network.  The Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.

Wilson showed signs of his prime when he chased down a fly ball off the first batter of the game.  Former Royal Kevin Seitzer and Wilson both drove in runs with RBI singles in the bottom of the third.

World Series hero Joe Carter hit a grand slam off of Royals Hall of Fame pitcher Dennis Leonard in the top of the fourth inning.  It was the second most important home run of his career as Carter hit the game-winning home run in Game 7 of the 1993 World Series.

Carter also homered in last year’s Legend’s Game.

In the end, Carter’s “Stock and News” team was too much for Wilson’s “Farmland” team, but everyone in attendance left all smiles after seeing their favorites of years past suit up for another day at the ballpark.
