Defending Champs Come to Kansas City

05/27/2008 8:00 AM -

The T-Bones begin a three-game series tomorrow with the defending champion Gary SouthShore RailCats.  The T-Bones swept the RailCats in Gary earlier this month.  During the series, Kansas City scored 24 runs - 23 of those runs in the seventh inning or later.  They scored 11 of those runs in the ninth inning or later, while erasing a nine-run deficit in the first game of the series.  This is the first time in the T-Bones’ team history that they came back from nine runs down.  Probable starters for the T-Bones are Kenny Durost (0-0 3.60 ERA), Mark Michael (1-1 3.72 ERA) and Reid Hamblet (1-0 1.64).  Starters for the RailCats are Jeremy Plexico (0-1 2.70 ERA), Tony Cogan (0-1 1.50 ERA) and Billy Phillips (1-0 2.41 ERA).  For all three games, the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Kansas City finished their first series of the homestand at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Monday night against the Schaumburg Flyers.  The two teams split the four-game series.  The T-Bones continued to shine offensively, scoring a total of 30 runs in the four games, improving to 8-3.  Kansas City’s rookie Rick Rivas made his first professional start Sunday night, picking up his first career victory after allowing one run on five hits over the seven-inning stretch.
