Defending Champs Come to Kansas City05/27/2008 8:00 AM - The T-Bones begin a three-game series tomorrow with the defending champion Gary SouthShore RailCats. The T-Bones swept the RailCats in Gary earlier this month. During the series, Kansas City scored 24 runs - 23 of those runs in the seventh inning or later. They scored 11 of those runs in the ninth inning or later, while erasing a nine-run deficit in the first game of the series. This is the first time in the T-Bones’ team history that they came back from nine runs down. Probable starters for the T-Bones are Kenny Durost (0-0 3.60 ERA), Mark Michael (1-1 3.72 ERA) and Reid Hamblet (1-0 1.64). Starters for the RailCats are Jeremy Plexico (0-1 2.70 ERA), Tony Cogan (0-1 1.50 ERA) and Billy Phillips (1-0 2.41 ERA). For all three games, the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Kansas City finished their first series of the homestand at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Monday night against the Schaumburg Flyers. The two teams split the four-game series. The T-Bones continued to shine offensively, scoring a total of 30 runs in the four games, improving to 8-3. Kansas City’s rookie Rick Rivas made his first professional start Sunday night, picking up his first career victory after allowing one run on five hits over the seven-inning stretch.
