KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones saw their five-game win streak end tonight with a 9-2 loss to the Schaumburg Flyers in front of 6,318 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The Flyers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first off Kansas City starter Mark Michael with an RBI double from Peanut Williams, plating Ryan Luther who reached with a one-out single.  Rob Watson (pictured) answered with a solo home run for the T-Bones in the bottom of the inning off Schaumburg starter Dan Frega.

After a scoreless second for both teams, Bo Hart doubled in two runs for the Flyers in the third to give Schaumburg a 3-1 advantage.  The Flyers added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings with an RBI triple from Mark Haske and an RBI single from Vince Harrison respectively.  Harrison added another run for Schaumburg in the seventh with a solo home run off reliever Chris Rhoads, his second of the season.

Michael suffered the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits in four and one-thirds innings.

Kansas City got a run back in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from John Martin, scoring Neb Brown who led off the frame with a double.  Frega picked up the victory, surrendering two runs on seven hits in seven innings of work.

The Flyers loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, thanks in part to two T-Bones errors.  Luther drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Lance Koenig for the first Schaumburg run before Williams singled in two more to give the Flyers a seven run lead, 9-2.  Luther advanced to third on Williams’ single due to a throwing error from center fielder Aharon Eggleston, Kansas City’s third error of the inning.

Brady Martinez threw a perfect ninth, striking out one to finish the game for Kansas City.

The two teams face off again tomorrow with Reid Hamblet going for the T-Bones against Steve Shippey of the Flyers.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
