05/19/2008 8:30 AM -

After winning three of their first four games of the season against the Winnipeg Goldeyes, the Kansas City T-Bones head to Gary, Ind. to open a three-game set at U.S. Steel Yard versus the defending champion Gary SouthShore RailCats.

The T-Bones outscored the Goldeyes 22-12 in the four game series, plating 15 of those runs in the final two games.  They are second in the league in runs scored, trailing only the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks who sit at 26.  Gary is fourth with a total of 16.

Kansas City and Gary faced off 17 times last season with the RailCats owning the advantage, 11-6.  The T-Bones were 3-3 at the U.S. Steel Yard in that span.  The two teams faced off in the final series of the season at CommunityAmerica Ballpark from August 29 – September 2, with the RailCats taking four of the five contests to knock Kansas City out of playoff contention.

U.S. Steel Yard was opened in 2002 and can seat up to 6.000 people.  It hosts a total of 18 luxury suites, a Bennigan’s restaurant, a large video scoreboard, picnic areas and a kids area.  The single-season attendance record for the RailCats was set at 7,089 on May 26, 2003 versus the Schaumburg Flyers.  The RailCats averaged 3,465 fans a game last season.

The first game of the three-game series is scheduled to kick off at 7:00.  Tony Cogan will take the mound for Gary.  Kansas City has yet to announce their starter.

Both games on Tuesday and Wednesday have first pitches scheduled for 10:30 am.
