T-Bones Fall In Exhibition Opener

05/03/2008 9:38 PM -
The T-Bones allowed six runs through the first two innings, which was enough to doom Kansas City as they drop their exhibition opener 8-1 to the Lincoln SaltDogs at CommunityAmerica Ballpark this evening (May 3).

The game started when Jonny Kaplan homered over the left-field wall off T-Bones starter Anthony Boughner. Corey Harrington followed with a double before Dustin Yount singled him home. The SaltDogs would add four more runs off Boughner in the second frame when Ben Tinius scored on an RBI single by Kaplan. Harrington followed with a two-RBI double, scoring Anthony Contreras and Kaplan. Harrington scored when the next batter, Eduardo Rios, singled to left.

The SaltDogs would add another pair of runs in the fifth off Rick Rivas. Rios walked to open the inning.  A batter later, Felix Jose doubled him home. The next batter, Yount, singled to left driving home Jose for Lincoln’s final run of the game.

The T-Bones were held scoreless until the ninth when Brad Correll scored on a wild pitch from Nate Staggs. The T-Bones received singles from Nick Jaros, who posted one in a pinch-hit role, and Brad Correll. Jim Fasano recorded a double in the fourth inning.

Anthony Boughner took the loss, allowing eight runs, six earned, in three innings while Vince Davis got the win, pitching three hitless innings. The T-Bones got two scoreless innings from Tag Horner and a scoreless ninth from David Trahan.

The T-Bones will be back in action tomorrow evening, taking on the Wichita Wingnuts at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 5:05.
