Thrall Loses Bet, Kisses Bill Self Picture

On Friday, January 18th, T-Bones broadcaster Tommy Thrall and Public Relations Director Bear Goodell made a friendly wager.  If the University of Kansas defeated the University of Missouri in basketball on Saturday, Thrall would kiss the picture of Bill Self that hangs in Goodell’s office.  If the Tigers won, Goodell would kiss a picture of the Tigers logo that hangs in Thrall’s office.  The Jayhawks defeated the Tigers 76-70 Saturday night.

Reluctantly, Thrall made good on his promise Monday morning, planting a soft peck on the picture of the Jayhawks’ head coach.

“Looking back on it, it was a dumb bet,” Thrall said.  “But that’s usually the case when you lose a bet.  At the time I had confidence in my team, and really I was happy with their performance.  They played well for the most part, a few calls and bounces didn’t go their way but that’s the way the game goes, you can’t use that as an excuse.”

Goodell seemed happy with the result.

“I’m thrilled with my alma mater’s victory over Mizzou,” Goodell said.  Columbia is always a tough place to play.  I want to give a big thanks to Coach Self and the team for giving me bragging rights until the game at Allen Fieldhouse.  Maybe I should get a bigger picture for that one.”
