Multiple current and former baseball greats will be in attendance at the Negro League Baseball Museum’s 8^th Annual Legacy Awards, taking place at 7pm, this Saturday, January 12, at the Gem Theater in Kansas City, MO.

Baseball legend Minnie Minoso will be on hand to accept the Jackie Robinson Lifetime Achievement Award.  Current Major League Baseball stars Prince Fielder and C.C. Sabathia will attend the ceremony, along with managers Eric Wedge (Cleveland Indians) and Bob Melvin (Arizona Diamondbacks).  Former MLB greats Willie Horton, Harold Reynolds, Willie Wilson, Frank White, Joe Carter, J.R. Richard, and Jim “Mudcat” Grant will also be in attendance.  Finally, Jimmy Lee Solomon, Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations for MLB, will be on hand to accept the John Henry "Pop" Lloyd Award-presented in recognition of “Baseball and Community Leadership.”

The Legacy Awards, established by the NLBM in 2000, annually recognizes the best Major League baseball players, managers, and executives, with awards given in the name, and spirit, of Negro Leagues legends such as Charleston, Gibson, Cool Papa Bell, and the late Buck O’Neil. The awards event recognizes both on- and off-the-field achievement with baseball awards presented to both NL and AL honorees.
