Former T-Bones third baseman and fan favorite Brandon Jones will again don new colors in 2008.  It was announced this week that the American Association’s Sioux City Explorers traded Jones to the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League.

“I had the opportunity to see Brandon from across the field and admired not only his skill but the way he goes about his job,” said Miners field manager Mike Pinto.  “I liked his attitude, and I am sure the Southern Illinois fans will like him.  He is a strong, talented young man who is an all-star caliber player.”

Jones played for the T-Bones in 2005 and 2006 before being moved to the American Association in Spring Training last season.  While with the T-Bones Jones hit .238 with 23 home runs and 81 RBI over two seasons.

Last season with the Explorers Jones hit a career high .266 with eight home runs and 35 RBI in only 59 games while playing third base and outfield.

“We and the fans enjoyed having Brandon here in Kansas City and he’s destined for high accolades in the Frontier League,” said T-Bones general manager Rick Muntean.  “We wish him the best of luck with the Miners.”
