T-Bones Reading Program Sees Increased Participation

10/23/2007 2:03 PM -

Enrollment in the T-Bones Reading Program for the 2007-2008 school year is already up 246% from last year.  Janet Lindsay, director of community relations for the T-Bones, reports that enrollment has topped 12,330 so far.

“The increase from last year is wonderful,” Lindsay said. “We’re excited to see the interest and support from the surrounding schools.”

Lindsay also stressed that while enrollment has increased, schools and students interested in registering for the program may still do so.  The registration deadline is March 31, 2008.  Interested students can sign up individually or as an entire class.  They can register at school, public libraries, Providence Medical Center, Saint John Hospital or online at www.tbonesbaseball.com.

The program, sponsored by Providence Medical Center and Saint John Hospital is aimed at school children in Wyandotte County and surrounding KC Metro areas.  It encourages children to increase the number of minutes they read each school year.  For every 500 minutes read, each child will receive a T-Bones related prize. The top prize, for children reading 2000 minutes or more, is 2 tickets to a 2008 T-Bones game.
