KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Super-utility man Nelson Gord (pictured) played all nine positions in the Kansas City T-Bones season finale as they defeated the Gary SouthShore RailCats 3-0 in front of 5,803 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.  The total attendance kept the T-Bones average attendance for the year over 6,000 for the first time in team history.

Gord started the game at second base and moved to the mound in the third inning in relief of Rob Watson, who started the game on the hill.  Watson, the team’s normal second baseman, allowed just one hit and struck out one in his two innings of work before finishing the last eight innings at second base.

Gord then threw a scoreless third, allowing one hit, before moving behind the plate to catch Chris Krawczyk.  Krawczyk threw two perfect innings for Kansas City, picking up the win to improve to 7-5.
 
Gord continued his journey after leaving the mound, moving to first base in the fifth, shortstop in the sixth, center field in the seventh, and left field in the eighth before finishing the game in right.  Fittingly, he caught a fly ball from Jose Yepez for the final out of the contest.

Gary was held scoreless in the contest, collecting just three hits off six T-Bones pitchers.  Kansas City scored a run in the first on a solo home run from Rob Watson, his career-high eighth of the season.  An RBI single from Neb Brown plated their second run of the game in the third and a sacrifice fly from Al Benjamin drove in their final run in the seventh on their way to a 3-0 victory.

Josh Habel allowed two of the three runs, surrendering 10 hits in five innings as he fell to 12-7.

Raymond Jenkins pitched the sixth and seventh innings for the T-Bones, and Matt Schweitzer threw a perfect eighth.  First baseman Mario Delgado allowed one hit in the ninth as he picked up his first career save.

Position players Dale Mueller and Brett Wallace pitched for Gary.

Game Notes:  Watson reached safely in 45 of 46 games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark this season.  The only game he failed to reach base was on August 30 when he went 0-for-four…Gord became the first player in T-Bones history to play all nine positions in a game…The game took 2:15, the shortest nine-inning game for the T-Bones this season…After allowing a run on Watson’s blast in the first inning, Habel saw his scoreless innings streak end at 24 games.  The last run he had given up previously came in the fifth inning on August 16, also on a home run by Watson.
