KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones dropped their second straight tonight to the Gary SouthShore RailCats 4-2 in front of 5,317 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.  RailCats left-hander Willie Glen set a new Northern League record for strikeouts in a season, punching out nine T-Bones to set the new mark at 162.  Kansas City now needs to win two of its next three games to make the playoffs.

Gary plated the first run of the contest in the first inning when Chris Krawczyk walked Jermaine Allensworth with two out, forcing in Dave Detienne who singled earlier in the frame to give the RailCats an early 1-0 advantage.

After allowing one hit in a scoreless first, Glen punched out Neb Brown for the second out in the second inning to officially break the record, which he tied in his last outing.  He struck out the next three batters he faced before walking Geoff McCallum with two outs in the third.

Gary added another run in the second on a solo home run from Nate Price, his sixth of the season.  They scored their final two runs of the contest in the third on an RBI groundout from Allensworth and an RBI single from Tanner Townsend, giving them a 4-0 lead after three.

After Al Benjamin doubled with one out, Calvin Pickering (pictured) homered off Glen to bring the T-Bones within two.  Those were the last runs scored in the game.

Glen left after five innings, improving to 12-1 after allowing two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out nine.  Krawczyk allowed four runs on nine hits in five and one-thirds innings, walking three and striking out one while falling to 6-5.

Matt Brinkmann and David Byard combined for three innings of scoreless relief for Gary.  Tony Cogan picked up his 24th save of the season after allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth.

Raymond Jenkins and Dan Jackson threw the final three and two-thirds innings for the T-Bones, allowing just two baserunners on a walk issued by Jenkins and a single surrendered by Jackson.

The two teams face off tomorrow with Kenny Durost taking the hill for Kansas City against Jason Shelley of Gary.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.

Game Notes:  Rob Watson went 0-for-four with two strikeouts, failing to reach base safely for the first time at home this season. His home on-base streak ends at 44 games…Gary has now won 13 of their last 16 contests, including 10 of their last 11 overall and seven of their last nine versus the T-Bones...Glen improved to 3-0 against Kansas City this season.  Entering the contest, the left-hander had punched out 10 or more T-Bones in his last three outings against them.  Over his career, Glen has collected 76 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched against Kansas City.
