SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – The T-Bones struggles at Alexian Field continued this afternoon as they dropped their Sunday matinee 6-5 to the Schaumburg Flyers after being held to just four hits for the second straight game.  Kansas City has lost three straight overall and is now 4-9 at Schaumburg this season.

An RBI double from Pat O’Sullivan in the first inning off starter Chris Krawczyk gave Schaumburg a 1-0 lead after one.  But rookie Nick Jaros responded for Kansas City in the second with a two-RBI single off Billy Keppinger to give the T-Bones a 2-1 advantage.

Schaumburg tied the game in the third with a solo home run from Alexander Derhak, his fourth of the season.  They took the lead again in the fourth on a two-run home run by Christian Snavely, his first of two two-run home runs in the contest.  Krawczyk allowed four runs on six hits in five innings.  He did not factor into the decision.

After scoring in the second, Kansas City got just one hit over the next five innings.  Keppinger left after seven, surrendering two runs on three hits in a no decision.  Randy Dunnett entered for Schaumburg in the eighth and walked two of the first three batters he faced, bringing Mario Delgado (pictured) up to represent the go-ahead run.  Delgado homered on a 3-2 pitch to give the T-Bones a 5-4 lead.

Snavely and the Flyers continued to battle as the left-handed slugger hit his second two-run home run of the contest, this time off reliever Danny Core to put Schaumburg up 6-5.  The loss was Core’s first of the season as he fell to 4-1.

James Morrison, who entered after Delgado’s home run, finished the game for the Flyers.  He allowed two baserunners on walks, but kept Kansas City off the board as he improved to 6-4 with the victory.  Dan Jackson threw two scoreless innings of relief for the T-Bones.

Snavely finished the game two-for-four with two home runs and four RBI.  O’Sullivan went three-for-four with three doubles and an RBI for the Flyers.  It was the first multi-home run game for Snavely in his five-year professional career.

Game Notes:  This afternoon’s loss to Schaumburg guarantees that the T-Bones will lose the five-game series.  Including this series, the T-Bones have won only two of 12 series played at Alexian Field between the two teams since moving to Kansas City in 2003.  The teams have split just two of those, meaning the Flyers have taken eight of the 12.  Kansas City is 15-26 in Schaumburg since moving to Kansas City…Keppinger continues to perform well against Kansas City as he is 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA in four starts against the T-Bones…Calvin Pickering reached safely for the 82nd time in 88 games played this season with a one-for-three performance…Four of Snavely’s nine home runs this season have come against the T-Bones.
