KANSAS CITY, Kan. – It took 11 innings, but the Kansas City T-Bones extended their lead in the South Division to four and-a-half games with a 9-8 victory over the Schaumburg Flyers in front of 5,483 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

With the game tied at eight in the bottom of the 11th, rookie Nick Jaros singled off Jake Toohey before a walk to Aharon Eggleston placed runners at first and second with nobody out.  Geoff McCallum popped out to third baseman Billy Malone in foul territory on a sacrifice bunt attempt before Rob Watson (pictured) doubled down the left-field line to plate Jaros for the victory.

Schaumburg started the scoring off with a four-run fourth inning off starter Dan Jackson, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Jimmy Hurst and Pat O’Sullivan.  An RBI double from Bryce Morrison capped off the frame.

Kansas City added one in the bottom of the inning off starter Randy Dunnett on an RBI single by Patrick Arlis, but the Flyers got it back in the sixth against reliever Sean Kramer on an RBI double by Alex Fonseca.  Jackson lasted five innings, surrendering four runs on six hits in a no decision.

The T-Bones chased Dunnett from the game in the bottom of the sixth, putting up a four-run inning of their own on three hits and one error.  Al Benjamin led off the frame with a triple and scored on a single by Neb Brown.  An RBI fielder’s choice by Eggleston, an RBI single by McCallum and a sacrifice fly from Watson finished out the scoring.  Dunnett allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits in five and one-thirds innings but did not factor into the decision.

The Flyers scored a run in the seventh and eighth innings off Travis Schlichting and Danny Core respectively to give them a 7-5 advantage heading into the bottom of the ninth.  But Kansas City responded with two runs off former T-Bone James Morrison on a sacrifice fly by Arlis and an RBI single from Eggleston, sending the game into extras.

Each team scored a run in the tenth before Watson’s double handed the T-Bones their seventh straight victory over Schaumburg and the series sweep.  Raymond Jenkins picked up his first win as a T-Bone with a scoreless 11th inning.  Toohey took the loss, his second of the season.  Matt Schweitzer allowed one run on two hits in two and one-thirds innings of relief for Kansas City.

Game Notes:  Watson extended his home on-base streak to 43 games and his overall on-base streak to 31 with a two-for-five night…Calvin Pickering went two-for-three with two runs scored to extend his overall on-base streak to 32 games and his home on-base streak to 29…Hurst’s home run extended his overall hitting streak to 17 games, the longest active streak in the league…The T-Bones finish their home season series with Schaumburg having taken nine of the ten games played at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.  They have outscored the Flyers 92-54 in those contests.  Kansas City leads the season series 13-7 with five games left to play in Schaumburg.
