KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones used the first two home runs of Nick Jaros’ (pictured) professional career to take down the second-place Schaumburg Flyers 14-4 tonight in front of 7,508 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.

A ground-rule double by Jimmy Hurst off T-Bones starter Rick DeHart in the first inning scored Anthony Monegan to give the Flyers a quick 1-0 lead.

But Kansas City responded with five runs over the first two frames, scoring three in the first on an RBI single by Mario Delgado, a wild pitch from Flyers starter Nat Harris and an RBI fielder’s choice by Neb Brown.  Two more runs were added in the second, the first coming on Nick Jaros’ first professional home run, a solo shot to lead off the inning.  Another RBI single from Delgado capped off the scoring, giving Kansas City a 5-1 lead after two.

Harris was pulled in favor of Tyler Adamczyk after he allowed the first three batters to reach in the fourth.  Adamczyk surrendered a sacrifice fly to Delgado before giving up a three-run home run to Al Benjamin.  Kansas City added two more in the inning to take an 11-1 lead after four.  Harris suffered the loss, allowing eight runs on seven hits in three-plus innings of work.

The Flyers added three off DeHart in the sixth, two on a home run from Billy Malone.  But Kansas City responded again, plating three of their own to maintain their ten-run advantage.  Jaros blasted his second home run of the game in the frame and finished the game three-for-five with three RBI.  DeHart earned the victory, allowing four runs on 10 hits in six innings.

Sean Kramer threw scoreless seventh and eighth innings, and Travis Schlichting threw a scoreless ninth for Kansas City to finish the game.

The teams face off again tomorrow with Chris Krawczyk going for Kansas City versus Drew Dickinson of Schaumburg.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.

Game Notes:  Rob Watson and Calvin Pickering both wasted no time in extending their on-base streaks as they each reached safely in the first inning on a single and walk respectively.  Watson has reached safely in all 41 home games this season and is riding an overall on-base streak of 29 games.  Pickering’s overall streak is now at 30 games…Three T-Bones drove in three RBI:  Delgado, Benjamin and Jaros.  Six had multi-hit games…The T-Bones are 7-1 against the Flyers in Kansas City this season.
