KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Behind a 12 strikeout performance from right-hander Willie Glen, the Gary SouthShore RailCats took down the Kansas City T-Bones 10-0 tonight at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

With 4,260 fans on hand, Glen posted a career-high 12 strikeouts, including four-in-a-row at one point, as he allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings.  He improved to 10-1 on the season with the victory.

Kansas City starter Kenny Durost surrendered the first four Gary runs in the first inning, two of which were unearned after an error by shortstop Geoff McCallum.  A triple from Dave Detienne plated Jermaine Allensworth to cap off the scoring.  Durost suffered the loss, allowing four runs, two earned on three hits in one inning of work.

Dan Jackson threw a scoreless second inning for Kansas City before surrendering three runs in the third, two of which where unearned due to McCallum’s second error of the contest.  Kansas City committed four errors on the night.  Jose Yepez and Detienne drove in one run each with RBI singles and Yepez scored on the error by McCallum.

Gary added two more runs in the sixth on a two-run home run from Mike Reese, his third of the season.  Jackson threw five innings in relief, surrendering five runs, three earned, on six hits in that span.  Sean Kramer and Travis Schlichting pitched scoreless seventh and eighth innings respectively for Kansas City.

Matt Brinkmann relieved Glen and combined with David Byard to throw scoreless eighth and ninth innings for Gary.  Utility man Nelson Gord surrendered one run on two hits in the ninth inning to close the game out for Kansas City.

Kansas City looks to avoid the sweep tomorrow night, sending out Anthony Boughner to face Gary’s Josh Habel.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.

Game Notes:  Rob Watson extended his home on-base streak to 39 games and his overall on-base streak to 27 games with a walk in the eighth inning…Calvin Pickering walked in the fourth to extend his overall on-base streak to 28 games…A single by Patrick Arlis to lead off the third and a triple by Mario Delgado in the sixth were the only hits collected by the T-Bones in the contest…Glen’s previous career high was 11, set on three occasions this season.  The last occurred in his most recent outing in a six-inning victory at home versus Calgary on August 10…After Kansas City won the first five matchups between the teams this season, Gary has taken five of the last six to pull the season series to 6-5 in Kansas City’s favor…Glen is now 5-0 against the T-Bones in his career.  He has punched out 67 T-Bones in 62 innings pitched.
