FARGO, N.D. – A five-run third inning by Fargo-Moorhead proved to be costly for the Kansas City T-Bones as they dropped their third straight tonight, 11-5, at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D.

Fargo got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Tydus Meadows off T-Bones starter Dan Jackson (pictured).

Kansas City tied the game at one in the third when Rob Watson grounded into a double play, scoring Patrick Arlis.  Fargo responded with five runs in their half of the frame, plating the first two on a double by Meadows, who later scored on a single from Ruben Salazar.  A two-run home run from Billy Munoz capped off a five-run third for the RedHawks.

Fargo starter Dane Renkert responded by holding the T-Bones to just one run on three hits over the next three innings, leaving the game after surrendering a leadoff walk to Nelson Gord in the seventh.  Renkert picked up the victory after allowing three runs on four hits in six-plus innings of work.  He improves to 11-1 on the season.

Right-hander Jason Schutt came in for Renkert and gave up two straight hits, including a two-RBI triple to Aharon Eggleston that plated Gord and Arlis.  An RBI groundout by the next batter, Geoff McCallum, scored Eggleston to pull Kansas City within two, 7-5.

Jackson came out to pitch the seventh, striking out Joe Mathis and Kory Wayment before surrendering a single to Meadows.  Sean Kramer relieved Jackson and walked Richard Austin before giving up a two-run double to Salazar to extend Fargo’s lead to four.  Jackson was saddled with the loss after surrendering eight runs on nine hits in six and two-thirds innings.

The RedHawks added two more on three hits in the eighth off Raymond Jenkins, pushing the final tally to 11-5.  Nate Cotton threw a scoreless ninth for Fargo.

Game Notes:  Watson was hit by a pitch in the first inning, extending his on-base streak to 23 games…Calvin Pickering walked and scored in the fourth inning, extending his on-base streak to 23 games…After not surrendering a home run in his first 30 innings this season, Jackson has now allowed eight long balls over his last 27 and one-thirds innings…Arlis was ejected in the ninth inning after arguing a called third strike…After dropping their third straight, Kansas City is on their longest losing streak since dropping five straight from July 2-6.
