KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Famous Chicken came to Kansas City for the first time in nearly a decade and saw the T-Bones take down the Joliet JackHammers 11-6 in front of 5,864 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, keeping them in first place in the South Division.

The Jackhammers got on the board first, scoring a run in the second inning off Kansas City starter Kenny Durost when Dennis Blackmon followed Derek Nicholson’s triple with an RBI single.  Joliet added four runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Chad Ehrnsberger and a three-run home run by Nicholson, extending their lead to five.  Durost earned the victory despite allowing six runs on six hits in six innings of work.  He walked five and struck out six in the contest.

Kansas City began their comeback in the third when Mario Delgado, Al Benjamin and Calvin Pickering all reached base against JackHammers starter Raymond Jenkins with one out, before a grand slam from Neb Brown pulled the T-Bones within one run, 5-4.  Jenkins took the loss after allowing eight runs on 11 hits in four and one-thirds innings.

The T-Bones loaded the bases again in the fifth on two singles and a walk before Pickering tied the game at five with a sacrifice fly.  Reliever Kyle Zaleski then induced a groundout from Patrick Arlis to hold the T-Bones to just one run.

The T-Bones scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on double from Geoff McCallum, scoring Nelson Gord.  Kansas City increased their lead to 7-5 on an RBI single from Delgado and added another run on a sacrifice fly from Benjamin.

Durost gave up another run in the sixth on a wild pitch before being replaced by Chris Krawczyk who pitched a scoreless seventh.  The T-Bones added insurance runs in the seventh on an RBI single from Benjamin and in the eighth on RBI singles from Aharon Eggleston and Rob Watson.  Danny Core pitched a scoreless eighth and Matt Schweitzer closed out the game for Kansas City with a scoreless ninth, striking out two in the process.

Game Notes: T-Bones manager Andy McCauley was ejected in the top of the second inning for arguing balls and strikes…Watson has reached base safely in all 32 of the T-Bones home games…Brown’s grand slam was his second of the season and the third by a T-Bones player in 2007…Durost, a Northern League All-Star earlier this season, snapped a personal four-game losing streak to improve to 5-4.
