Flyers Halt T-Bones Rally with Walk-Off

06/09/2007 11:32 PM -

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – The Kansas City T-Bones rallied back from two deficits, but it was not enough to overtake the Schaumburg Flyers at Alexian Field Saturday night as Christian Snavely ended it with a game-winning solo home run in the tenth.  Kansas City rode a strong pitching performance from starter Chris Krawczyk (pictured), who went a career high six innings and allowed just one earned run.  Kansas City worked to overcome two deficits and briefly took the lead with a bases loaded walk, but were unable to hold down the Flyers, who jumped back and sent the game into extras, where they took the final lead.

The Flyers jumped on the board first when Christian Snavely singled and scored after a two-out throwing error by third basemen Nelson Gord. The T-Bones also took advantage of an error to score their first run of the game.  Mario Delgado led off the inning by reaching on an error by Flyers shortstop Dario Delgado before Calvin Pickering moved him over to third with a sharp single and Austin Easley drove him in with a groundout to third.

Both starting pitchers then cruised until the bottom of the fifth, when Krawczyk ran into a jam. After recording two outs, Victor Burgos hit his first career home run and Keith Maxwell knocked in a run when a routine groundball got past Gord and drifted into left field.  Kansas City quickly jumped back again in the next half inning when Rob Watson was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame and came home when Brad Correll homered to left to even the score at three.

The T-Bones added another run in the seventh when starter Nat Harris loaded the bases for Brown. Harris was then replaced by left-hander Brian Martin who walked Brown on four consecutive pitches to give Kansas City their first lead, 4-3.  The Flyers answered in the bottom of the inning when Snavely scored on a bloop single from Maxwell off of Travis Schlichting, who came in for Trevor Caughey.

After the T-Bones failed to score in the top of the tenth, Snavely led off the bottom of the inning with a walk-off home run to left giving Schlichting his first loss of the season.  Eiji Yano picked up his first win of the year as the T-Bones fell to 9-13 and the Flyers improved to 11-11 on the season.

The series concludes tomorrow night as the T-Bones send Kenny Durost to the mound against Dan Grybash.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:20.
