SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – The Kansas City T-Bones ended their longest losing streak since moving to Kansas City tonight with a 7-6 victory over the Schaumburg Flyers.

Schaumburg struck first when Demetrius Heath hit a solo home run off former Flyer and T-Bones starter Kenny Durost (pictured) in the first inning.  The Flyers added another run in the fourth when Christian Snavely drove home Dario Delgado with a sacrifice fly.  Durost picked up his first victory of the season after allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings.

The T-Bones came back in the top of the fifth off Flyers starter Dan Grybash.  After a one-out double from Aharon Eggleston, Neb Brown doubled him home for the first of three runs in the inning.  After a walk to Donaldo Mendez, Mario Delgado singled home Brown with Mendez also scoring on the play after a throwing error by center fielder Kevin House.

Kansas City added four more runs in the sixth, three coming on a triple by Eggleston that scored Brad Correll, Austin Easley and Nelson Gord.  A sacrifice fly from Rob Watson would drive home Eggleston to extend the T-Bones lead to five runs.  Grybash was saddled with the loss after allowing seven runs, five earned, in five innings.

Schaumburg responded in the bottom of the seventh off T-Bones reliever Travis Schlichting with a three run frame of their own, highlighted by an RBI triple from Sandy Almonte.  Almonte would come home on an RBI groundout from Josh Noviskey.  A fielder’s choice groundout from Kevin Bass plated Keith Maxwell for the third run of the inning.
 
The T-Bones and reliever Dan Jackson made it interesting in the ninth inning, allowing a run on a single by Keith Maxwell and putting the winning run for Schaumburg on at first base with two outs.  However, Jackson would get Heath to ground out to third to end the threat and pick up his third save of the season.

Brett Reid and Matt Schweitzer appeared in relief for Kansas City, holding Schaumburg scoreless in the eighth.

The series will be decided tomorrow night at Alexian Field in Schaumburg.  Larkin Braxton will make his third start as he goes against Drew Dickinson for the Flyers at 7:05.

Game Notes:  Rob Watson went 0-for-four to snap his nine-game hit streak…Correll had two hits to extend his hit streak to ten games…The win snaps an 11-game road losing streak dating back to last season.
